Walking and mountain-biking tracks can be explored at McLeans Island, located just 10 kilometres from the city at the Waimakariri River Regional Park. Open from 7am - 10pm, the park offers other activities including golf and horse-riding.
Bottle Lake Forest Park is another popular mountain biking and walking spot, located adjacent to the coast about 10km north east of central Christchurch. Choose your track depending on your ability and make a day of it.
If you want to stick to the city, Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens offer a range of activities, from walking and cycling to golf and canoeing down the Avon River. Celebrate the Garden's 150th Anniversary by dusting off your rollerblades and tennis rackets for some free outdoor fun.
