Ingham Lazy Sundays and Sunday BandstandHagley Park will prove to be a real haven for music over the summer months. The season is ushered in by the New Year's Eve festivities, which will see the New Entrants and Celtic rockers The Black Velvet Band ring in the new year with energy and style.

On Tuesday 5 February, ASB Classical Sparks will offer up some high culture alongside some high-flying pyrotechnics. The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and New Zealand Army Band will be in top form for this long-running favourite.

Speaking of favourites, Ingham Lazy Sundays and Sunday Bandstand are returning - and guess what day of the week they'll be running? From Sunday 6 January, Ingham Lazy Sundays brings you cutting-edge chill-out music, and from Sunday 3 February Sunday Bandstand brings you stirring pipe and brass bands.

Art Beat, from its home in Re:START mall, showcases more than 60 live acts over 16 weeks. The nationwide MORE FM Summer Vineyard Tour reaches Christchurch on Friday 22 February, with artists including Opshop, Missy Higgins, Che Fu and Aaradhna playing to audiences in The Groynes.

Venturing outside of Christchurch, the International Akaroa Summer Music Festival from 11 - 20 January will offer plenty of stimulating masterclasses and concerts, and the Little River Drum Festival will make 26 - 27 January a banging good weekend.
